Mandatory Safe Environment Requirements

There are three separate components of the Diocese mandated Safe Environment Program for Child and Youth Protection.  Please read the following information carefully in order to assure that you as parents, guardians, volunteers, etc. comply with all of the appropriate components at the start of our 2018/2019 school year.

(1)     Every parent must complete the Diocese Personal Information Sheet annually at the start of each school year.

Any adult (grandparent, guardian, nanny, etc.) who regularly plans to be on our campus for school events (classroom volunteer, open house, field day, etc.) must also complete the Diocese Personal Information Sheet every year at the start of the school year.

        One form per adult.

The Diocese Personal Information Sheet is attached and also available through ParentsWeb under Resource Documents.   We ask that all parents complete a Diocese Personal Information Sheet and either return it directly to the front office, via mail (2710 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh, 27608), or fax (919-420-2188) no later than Friday, August 24th.  Confidentiality of completed forms is maintained by the school's administration.

(2)    Any adult who may come into direct contact with students on campus with no or limited supervision (hot lunch volunteer, media center volunteer, standardized testing proctor, field day volunteer, dance chaperone, room parent or volunteer, etc.) or may provide student supervision in a public setting or potentially involve solitary time with students (field trip chaperone, athletic coaching, Science Olympiad coaching, etc.) must complete the Diocese Safe Child Training.  Safe Child Training sessions are current for a period of five years from the date of training.  Please secure your original training certificate with your other valuable personal paperwork.

Questions regarding the date of your training session on file with the school may be directed to Joan Rose (919-861-4614).

The next training session scheduled at OLLS will be Wednesday, August 29th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Fallon Center.  Please contact the Parish Office (919-861-4610) to reserve your place.

If you are unable to attend the August 29th session, you may attend any training session conducted in the Diocese of Raleigh.  A complete listing of training sessions is available through the Diocese (http://dioceseofraleigh.org/offices/child-and-youth-protection/calendar).  Upon completion of an off-site Diocese training session, please send a copy of you training certificate to Paige Dickerson.

(3)    Any adult who may come into direct contact with students on campus with no or limited supervision (hot lunch volunteer, media center volunteer, standardized testing proctor, field day volunteer, dance chaperone, room parent or volunteer, etc.) or may provide student supervision in a public setting or potentially involve solitary time with students (field trip chaperone, athletic coaching, Science Olympiad coaching, etc.) must complete the Diocese Volunteer Background Verification Form.  Diocese background verifications are current for a period of seven years from the date of processing.  The Diocese Volunteer Background Verification Form is attached and also available through ParentsWeb under Resource Documents.

Diocese background verifications can require 7-15 business days for processing so we encourage parents who plan to volunteer in a capacity identified above to complete the form and return it to the school office at the start of the school year.  Questions regarding the date of your previous completed verification form, if applicable, may be directed to Paige Dickerson (pdickerson@olls.org ). Confidentiality of completed forms is maintained by the school's administration.

Thank you for your cooperation with these Diocese mandates.
